Son La province is situated in north-west Vietnam next to Laos (where I will go the day after tomorrow). The first time in 34 days of Vietnam traveling that nobody smoked in the bus!

The landscape is here great, all the people are friendly and say hello without demanding for money. I have been invited for tea about 20 times, but I was full.

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam (it was Hue during the times of the emperor) and here worked Ho-Chi-Minh until his death in 1969.


Don't forget to walk or cycle through the old quarter and to take a rest a the West Lake.

Not that much motorcycles as in Saigon but still very annoying.... Read more
The Citadel is fantastic.

There are a lot of students in this city and a lot go by bicycles so that this city is less noisy.

Enjoy the good-value restaurants and ice-cream cafes. Also don't miss to sit next in a cafe to the river.

Dalat is know for its mild climate, compared to other parts of Vietnam. The travel agencies here developped a number of outdoor activities like trekingm canoyeing and cycling. Some of these seem reasonable priced others really expensive - like a two-day bike tour for 120 dollar.... Read more
