Vang Vieng is a small district capital which has recently changed due to masses of tourists which rush to and stay in this town, enjoying the karst mountains, tubing, kayaking, climbing and beer lao.
Attention: Internet is monopolzied here, it costs 300 Kip per minute (2 dollars an hour).

A Lao friend of mine invited me to go to a wedding of one of his friends. I hesitated. You usally don't go to a wedding of somebody you have never seen. But he inisted and I enjoyed to assist to typical wedding in area of Vang Vieng.

You can book a tire-tube or kayak ride of 5 or 8 kilometers. Many swing and jump stations invite you for some jumps and sell beer Lao and other drinks.
It is recommendable to start early for these trips. You might think 5 kilometer is nothing, but to say the truth tubing is very slow, it will take you 2 hours without stops in dry season.
Be careful when you jump in dry season, as several people - me included - touched the ground of the river....

I cycled through this fantastic Karst landscape towards the Poukham Cave. This cave is really worth a visit, because it quite large and easy walking with sport shoes or even sandals. I added an extra spot on h2guide.com called "Poukham Cave".
It's quite recommendable to rent a mountain bike for this dirty road....

A Lao family sells these "Hau Nong Kuk" on the street in Vang Vieng nearby the Amphone Guesthouse. These egg-size mini pancakes (or maybe dumplings) are delicious and were a great welcome meal for me. They a composed of coconuts, sticky rice, sugar and some herbs.
The cooking is performed in a special multi-pan, looks a little bit like a these European egg-boilers.
